Important Update
2025 BCTA Spring Election Process

Once again, If you do not have an active email it is encouraged to get one when renewing your 2025 membership. If you are a member who never uses email or does not have access to a computer, or do not receive a email ballot please contact the elections committee, we can arrange a phone call vote for voting or resend your email ballot by emailing elections@bctrappers.ca

The first step in the new elections process is the nomination of candidates. As per our by laws:
43. Nominations. Nominations for Board of Director Positions are due by February 15 each calendar year or on another date within a calendar year set by special resolution of the Board of Directors.
Nominations must be provided by at least two Voting Members of the Association in good standing, or a Local.
44. Regional Director Eligibility. Candidates for a Regional Director position must trap in or be resident in the Region they are being nominated to represent and may only be nominated by the Locals of that Region or Voting Members who trap in or are residents of that Region.
Note: The regional director elected may also hold a position as chair of a local. It is not a requirement to be a local elected chair to be elected as the regional director.
Prior to elections members will have to identify which region they wish to cast their vote. Members can only vote for one regional director. Which region a member wishes to vote will be collected at the time of membership purchase. Bylaw states:
50. Voting Rights. Any Voting Member may vote for a Presidential, Vice-Presidential candidate, and two Director at Large Candidates. Voting Members may choose to vote for any Regional Director candidate in the Region they live in or a Region they trap in, but cannot cast more than one such vote during any one election.
